Artist's Comments

This is my entry for ~killbillfanclub's contest, whose theme is "March". I think that O-Ren Ishii wielding a bloodstained katana in a peaceful Japanese garden is a quite appropriate subject. Don't you?

O-Ren and Elle were my favourite villians in "Kill Bill". Elle, because she was pure evil: sneaky, merciless and lucidly cruel, without redemption nor second thoughts. She was *coherent*, and that means much for a character to me. But O-Ren... She was the only one with a *reason* to be what she was. The others were natural born bastards, she wasn't. Of course I loved the detailed anime flashback and insight too. Not to mention she's the only one with some taste in clothing and in dialogues. Thank God they changed her haircut from the one she wore when the Bride was beaten up. :O

As for the drawing itself: I made it yesterday in a real short time, while I was role playing through webcam and microphone with my friends. :giggle: I nearly burned out all my big ink felt-tip pens for this, but then again, I'm just in love with traditional media. :aww: Some retouches were made with liquid corrector.

O-Ren Ishii is © Quentin Tarantino.

Drawing is © me.

Love the movies, and I simply adore this drawing!
The peaceful mood, in contrast to that bloodstained sword. She looks serene, but yet she's a vicious killer.
I also adore B&W drawings, as you know.
This is surely a fav+!

Oh lord, this is just absolutely gorgeous! I am in LOVE with the white sillhouettes of her figure and of the leaves. And you say you did this with pen? I thought for sure it was a digital piece o_o

mmm. Beautiful.

E' stupendo, il contrasto tra bianco e nero è impressionante. Voglio dire, rende tantissimo.
Davvero un'immagine fantastica.

"Ah, yes. The "Bob Loblaw Law Blog". You, sir, are a mouthful."

Great work ! It reminds me of Frank Miller's work in Sin City, with only shadows instead of lines. Of course the style is very different, it's just about the general idea.
So this drawing has a lot of class and pays a real homage to O-Ren. :)
