When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Artist's Comments Gladys (left) and Irys (right) are the youngest and the oldest sisters in a group of 8 halfling siblings. They were the most talented girls in the family, being the first a quick and agile thief and the second a brilliant mind with a peculiar sensitiveness. One day, Irys left all her world and all her gifted existence behind, just to follow her greatest love, the descendant of a rich and decaying knight family, which she had saved from an illness when she worked shortly as a nurse. He would drag her around like a puppet, using and teasing her with promises of a love he would never return. Gladys, who was very fond of her older sister, grew soon very annoyed of this behaviour, and plotted a plan against the knight. She paid a gang of brigands to give him a lesson, just to spoil him of his properties and to scare the Hell out of him. But they went too far, and eventually slaughtered him in front of Irys, who was left so shocked to lose words, and to retire in a sort of dreamy autism. Gladys took her revenge on the brigands, and then, won by remorse, made the promise to take her sister Irys along with her in her travels, so to take care of her forever. And together they still are, guided by Irys' extraordinary sixth sense, which seems to have become even stronger... Soo... my first finished work in 2007! What do you think of it? It's also my first try with shading in pencils... My boyfriend says the atmosphere is pretty good, but I think the scanning killed part of it. For this drawing I used a very old sketch of Gladys (which was originally a character for a D&D campaign) and assembled her figure with a new one of her sister. Not the best of renderings on her skirt, but I guess it's satisfying.    ~Mizu |
